If not a Nurse then who?
One thing our founder Jessica Oblak always knew 1) she wanted to help people. A LOT of people. Thus, she began her career as a nurse. Being a nurse and taking care of various patients allowed Jessica to learn about life at a very early age. This gave her a zest for life that propelled her to live her life to the fullest.
By 2017 she started to study to become an Intensive Care Nurse. During this time, she had come across athletic clothing that was copper infused. They were being marketed as odor resistant and antibacterial. That’s when it hit her. Why don’t we have these in scrubs? Someone should make those! She thought about doing it herself, but her background was in healthcare.
How was she going to do it?
She did a lot of research and took business courses at the University of Toronto as part of the entrepreneurial certificate program which gave her the building blocks to help jumpstart her entrepreneurial journey.
During her courses, she developed a dream. A dream where our health care system would experience a decrease in the amount of hospital acquired infections. A world where the fourth leading cause of death wasn’t so preventable and we wouldn’t have to spend billions of dollars to treat patients for hospital acquired infections.
And so, she began her long tenuous journey trying to develop Copper Medical.
Copper Medical was going to save lives.
She saw it then and sees it now.
